Talbot is delighted to welcome Dr. Wilfred Graves Jr. as the new director of the Center for the Study of the Work and Ministry of the Holy Spirit Today at Biola University. A scholar, pastor and teacher with nearly three decades of ministry experience, Graves blends academic excellence with Spirit-empowered leadership. He holds advanced degrees from MIT, Stanford, and Fuller Theological Seminary, and he has taught in both academic and church settings with clarity, warmth, and spiritual depth.
“This is a unique moment to nurture a deeper awareness of the Holy Spirit’s presence and power,” Graves said. “That awareness should be grounded in Scripture, enriched by church history and expressed through effective witness in today’s world.”
His vision is to foster a thoughtful, faithful approach to the Spirit’s work that connects the academy and the church.
Under Graves’s leadership, the center will be a place where rigorous learning and real-life experience with the Holy Spirit come together. Planned initiatives include Spirit empowerment vespers, faculty research fellowships, academic and ministry conferences, classroom involvement and campus-wide events — each designed to help students and the wider Biola community grow in understanding and openness to the Spirit’s work in everyday life.
As this new chapter begins, Talbot’s leaders look forward to seeing how God will use the center to inspire deeper faith, bold witness, and spiritual renewal on campus and beyond. May it truly become a space of fresh outpouring for all who come through its doors.
