Licensing Policy for Branded Products and Apparel
Biola-branded clothing and accessories are a great way for students, alumni, parents and supporters to show off their university spirit. Biola University’s licensing policy ensures that these products match the quality that our community expects and deserves.
In order to protect and promote the university’s name, logos and marks, Biola’s Office of University Communications and Marketing has established a licensing program that requires all branded merchandise — whether for retail, promotional or personal use — to adhere to Biola’s brand standards and design expectations. Biola partners with CORE81, a division of (CLC), to help in the administration of this program.
All vendors who produce items imprinted with any of Biola University’s trademarked property must be officially licensed by the university through the CORE81 platform. Use of Biola University’s trademarks without license or permission is strictly prohibited.
How to Become Licensed to Produce Biola-Branded Products
Any person or company that wishes to produce items bearing the university’s name, images, likeness or logos must be a licensed vendor through CORE81. If you are interested in obtaining a Biola University license, please with CORE81.
If you are already licensed in CORE81 with another university, please submit a new request. Log in to the and go to License Management >> Submit New Request >> Select Request Type >> New Institution Request. Be sure to click the “Select Trademark” box.
Each CORE81 partner institution utilizes its own decision-making process to determine how to grant licenses. If you would like more information or have additional questions, please contact licensing@CORE81.com.
How the Product Approval Process Works
- After obtaining a license to produce Biola-branded products, vendors receive access to official university logos, graphics, colors and design guidelines.
- Before producing any Biola-branded product, vendors must submit the design and product specifications for approval through the CORE81 platform.
- A representative from Biola’s Office of University Communications and Marketing will then review the design and product specifications — at which point the product request will be approved, rejected or returned with requested changes.
- If approved, the vendor may proceed with the production, sale and distribution of the approved product.
